We are seeking an HR and Office Assistant to join our growing creative team-oriented architectural practice. The successful candidate will be a key member of our administrative team, and will be exposed to a variety of responsibilities in the operation of a growing architectural office.

Acton Ostry Architects is a leading Canadian design practice recognized for the creation of eloquent and innovative community, public institutional, and mixed-use residential buildings. Since our inception in 1992, we have continually demonstrated our commitment to the making of architecture that responds sensitively to social, historical and environmental concerns. Our design approach incorporates new technologies and materials that contribute to the realization of buildings rooted in a considered, modernist idiom.

Job Description:

  • establish effective employee relationships at all levels based on trust, experience and credibility by providing front-line HR consultation, advice and counsel
  • support programs to help improve the employee experience
  • assist management with implementing and administering employee policies, identify ways to improve policies and procedures
  • provide recruiting and on-boarding assistance
  • prepare HR documentations
  • administrative support including employee benefits, payroll, and tracking vacation, leaves and absences
  • general office administrative support, including and are not limited to: reception, facilities, in-house forms and systems, libraries, database, business development, and internal communications, etc.


  • 3+ years experience in an office environment, must have Human Resources Management or related discipline
  • excellent communication, written and interpersonal skills
  • displays good judgment and discretion with confidential information
  • strong organizational and multi-tasking skills with accuracy and attention to detail
  • proficient use of MS Office (MAC platform); adept at learning new programs
  • self-motivated with the ability to work well independently and as part of a team, requires minimal supervision in achieving standards and objectives
  • post-secondary education is an asset

Salary is commensurate with experience.
