Job Description:
Reporting to the Director of Physical Plant and Transportation Services, the Assistant Director is responsible for the following areas: structural, security & infrastructure, electrical, grounds and mechanical maintenance; portable classroom relocation and minor renovations. The scope of responsibility includes the leadership and supervision of management and technical staff in various roles in a changing organizational environment.

The ideal candidate will hold an engineering or architecture degree; or an equivalent combination of post secondary training and experience. Managing large budgets, dealing with complex personnel issues and managing maintenance related computer information systems are part of the role description. An excellent record of achievement as a strong, innovative manager/leader in a similar role is required. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, and approximately 10 years’ relevant experience will be necessary to enable the individual to fulfill this role. The total staff complement in this department is over 160 and includes managers, forepersons and technical staff.
