Job Description:

We are looking for an Architect to fulfill the role of a Senior Level Architect. Working closely and in collaboration with the Project Leadership, you will be responsible for leading the Architectural design, technical deliverables, and coordination of these projects, each with varying levels of complexity and scale. You will be working within fully integrated design teams throughout all project phases, from pre-design through to post-construction services.

Responsibilities Include:
• Build and inspire strong, efficient, effective, and driven project teams
• Lead interdisciplinary project team meetings, peer reviews, independent reviews, and advance a collaborative approach to design, technical solutions and project delivery
• Extensive technical design skills, including ability to develop concepts and generate solutions in design development through construction administration of a project
• Supervise the preparation of presentation materials for client review, development permit application, building permit application and construction drawings
• Demonstrated ability to lead the development of Contract Documents, including drawings and coordinating specifications, from schematic design to construction issue documents
• Ability to provide Contract Administration services, including meetings, Field Observations and Reports, preparation of Supplemental Instructions, Contemplated Change Notices, Change Orders, and Change Directives
• Ability to oversee the design intent/vision is maintained throughout the project, from conception through system and material selection, visualization, implementation, documentation, coordination, and construction
• Knowledge of requirements relating to a variety of building types

Qualifications:
• Strong Revit, SketchUp, InDesign and Illustrator skills are required, other BIM tools are an asset
• Bachelor’s or Masters Degree in Architecture and/or a recognized institution by the AIBC
• 8 or more years of related experience as a project architect on large scale projects
• Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills
• Driven to achieve design excellence through brilliant and collaborative design
• Proven ability to lead, solve complex multi-stakeholder problems, and inspire project teams: client, users, consultants, contractors, and trades
• Knowledge of building codes, standards and building structures
• Strong leadership, organizational and relationship-management skills
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills; collaborates effectively in a multi-disciplined environment
• Demonstrated interest in holistic design, systems thinking, construction, materials, sustainability, and technical design detailing
• Registered with the AIBC or eligible to register within the province of BC

Job Description:

We’re seeking an Intermediate to Senior level Contract Administrator. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional with experience in contract documentation who has a passion for the later stages of a project focusing on field work and contract administration. We require a person with excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong leadership skills and an ability to work on a team under the direction of Senior Staff on a variety of project types. The individual in this role will ideally be able to work on all phases of a project, particularly construction drawings and contract administration, carrying through to the completion of construction. During the Contract Administration phase, you will be directly responsible for comprehensive and timely administration of all project related documentation and information liaising directly with the contractor, the client and the project manager.

• Construction administration functions on site and in office
• Establish and maintain effective and professional liaisons with clients, contractors and authorities having jurisdiction.
• Conduct on-site visits to review compliance with contract documents and all required municipal and provincial requirements; observe and report on work in progress; prepare and issue Field Reviews and Site Instructions
• Support senior staff with internal and external communications throughout the working drawing and construction process
• Produce and distribute supplemental drawings, specifications and interpretations in response to requests for clarification by contractors/owners
• Provide review and circulation of shop drawings and RFIs, prepare and review Change Orders, review applications for payment and manage project closeout services as required
• Maintain up-to-date project records
• Ensure quality and design intent through construction phase
• Exercise independent judgement and analysis of significant issues and find a resolution
• Continually stay educated with current building systems, trends, and building code changes

Qualifications:
• Proficiency with Revit an asset
• 5 or more years experience in the production of contract documents, contract administration or direct construction experience
• Architectural Technologist Diploma or Architectural Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, or direct construction experience
• Knowledge of applicable building codes/standards and a proven work history working with construction documents
• Be comfortable being involved in multiple projects concurrently
• Possess analytical and problem-solving skills along with strong negotiation skills, leadership ability working with construction site personnel
• Well organized, attention to detail
• Understanding of contracts including CCDC 2 and AIBC/RAIC Document 6, and the documents used during the phase of construction to administer or modify the contract, including Requests for Information; Change Directives; Change Orders; Contemplated/Proposed Change Orders, Certificates for Payment, etc.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Eligible to work in Canada
• Registered with the AIBC or eligible to register within the province of BC
