• Mentor and coach staff in Revit, and other key BIM and visualization software

What you need to be successful in the role:
• Degree or diploma in Architectural and Building Technology from an accredited institution

Job Description:

Main Purpose and Function
This Project Manager II position focusses on the early stages of capital projects, with an emphasis on long term planning, site optimization and feasibility options that test land use and built form. The objective of this work is to find the best value and outcome and to inform the decision making process going forward. Long term facility planning ensures that the City meets its present and future service needs in the most efficient and financially sustainable manner, aligning with the City’s strategic goals. This position will also be responsible for providing technical oversight of spaces delivered to the City via private development projects. Responsibilities include follow up on quality assurance through the delivery of the design and construction, ensuring projects meet the functional requirements of their intended use. This position also works with various City Departments on long term capital facilities planning. The Project Manager may also lead consultant teams in the design, construction, and delivery of civic capital projects.

Specific Duties/Responsibilities

-Provide planning for the early stages of capital projects, with an emphasis on long term planning, site optimization and feasibility options that test land use and built form.
-Focuses on providing technical oversight of spaces delivered to the City through private developments.
-Assist other City Departments in the receipt of Amenity Bonus / Community Amenity spaces, including liaising with Law Department on the agreements related to these spaces.
-Monitor the progress of the work related to budget, schedule, the program of requirements, including the City’s sustainability policies, quality and completeness; identify problems; evaluate if alternate approaches should be taken to meet the targets.
-Represent the City interest in meetings as the owner’s Project Manager.
-Act as the City’s representative and liaise between consultants, clients and City departments in matters pertaining to projects program, design, construction and contracts.
-Manage capital projects on behalf of the City, including: review of contracts with consultants, contractors etc. and recommend actions as appropriate; review of tenders and construction documents and obtain tenders; review of change orders, progress payment certificates, and invoices and recommend payment; review of construction to ascertain it is in general conformance with contract documents; review and maintain project cost data and issue monthly reports.
-Represent the Department on City committees as required.
-Prepare service level agreements as part of lease agreements for city owned facilities.
-Create new and update existing technical guidelines for delivery of civic facilities.
-Prepare project descriptions and/or conceptual plans to illustrate project requirements for project justification.
-Prepare project budget and Council Reports for approval by senior staff and Council.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:

-University degree in Architecture or Engineering
-Registered Professional Architect or Engineer in the Province of BC
-Project Management training/certificate such as a PMP designation would be an asset.
-Experience in the design and construction of civic buildings, including recreation facilities, would be an asset.
-Experience with utilizing urban planning principles and urban site optimization
-Experience in the project management of civic buildings and related facilities.
-Experience in estimating costs of a variety of building projects, types of materials, methods of estimating and classes of estimates.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional with experience in contract documentation who has a passion for the later stages of a project focusing on field work and contract administration. Main Purpose & Function

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Assists in developing and supporting urban design plans for integration of rapid transit stations and alignments or upgrading of existing stations
Reviews station upgrade plans and designs
Reviews and analysis of external agency plans and policies
Conceptualizes, develops, tests and refines public realm plans.
Supports design and planning work for public realm and station area planning
Facilitates consultant work related to rapid transit facility design and costing as necessary
Works in partnership with the Engineering Department, Planning and Parks Board and to develop holistic public realm strategies for station areas
Documents and prepares presentation materials for complex urban design themes and analysis, including: digital models, illustrative work, report writing, meeting facilitation, and presentations to other staff, management, Council and stakeholders.
Assists in providing professional transit integration and public realm input and advice for transit projects and station areas
Applies skill and versatility in design, sound judgement and independent action within the parameters of work assignments, planning policies, by-laws and design guidelines
Works collaboratively with other members of Transit Integration and Projects, Engineering, the Planning, Urban Design and Sustainability Department, Transportation Engineering and other City Departments. Support and facilitates public consultation processes, including community events, workshops and meetings (including evenings, and weekends)

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

University graduation in Architecture or related degree such as Planning, preferably with a post-graduate degree in Urban Design or Community and Regional Planning, plus a minimum of one year professional experience in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience.
Membership or eligibility for membership in the Architectural Institute of British Columbia is desirable
Membership or eligibility for membership in the Planning Institute of British Columbia is desirable
Experience providing review, advice and comment on urban design and development proposals and applications desired.
Professional experience in architecture and urban design preferred, including professional experience in the private sector preferred.
Experience with land use and transportation planning
Experience in Rhino and Grasshopper is an asset.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Considerable knowledge of working in a design capacity, from concept through to detailed design, construction and implementation on a range of transit, development and urban design projects
Considerable knowledge of various layers of urban design (including built form, land use, open space, transportation and infrastructure)
Good knowledge and understanding of governmental structures and systems
Good knowledge of and ability to facilitate public consultation, land use issues, site planning, urban design, transportation, and sustainable design practices is essential
Good knowledge of the City of Vancouver policies, organization and interdepartmental relationships and reporting structure is preferred along with familiarity of the City’s processes, policies regulations and guidelines for development planning and urban design including the integration of Engineering, Parks and Planning considerations and requirements
Sound knowledge of AutoCAD, Sketchup, ArcGIS Pro and the Adobe Creative suite.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work within a team environment and within defined time lines
Ability and experience in managing competing priorities
Demonstrated design ability
Strong graphic visualization and representation capabilities in a variety of mediums
Strong interpersonal, public engagement and communications skills while engaging with other planning staff and members of the community
Ability to work with staff assigned to various projects and facilitate the work of consultants engaged on planning projects.
Ability to clearly communicate complex issues through Council reports and presentations, or comparable documentation and presentations.

Perkins&Will Vancouver is looking for a Visualization Specialist to join the team. This is a new role for the studio and you will be responsible for working directly with project teams to create still images and animations for a variety of projects from concept to final design. You will be responsible for direct modelling, texture creation, editing and mapping, along with camera placement and lighting to make photorealistic interactive levels.

Duties Include:
– Working with project teams to create still images and animations at all stages of design
– Direct Modelling such as mesh editing and repair, mesh sculpting, solid/NURBS model editing, asset population
– Topography and surrounding context creation and editing using satellite imagery, Mapbox, GIS, or other
– Texture creation, editing, and mapping
– Using proper camera placement and lighting to create photorealistic interaction levels
– Using  post-production workflows effective such as Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects
– Delegate discrete or repetitive tasks and automate repetitive workflows
– Support in the development of corporate visualization standards and processes

To join us, you will have:
– 3+ years of visualization experience
– Strong understanding of both photorealistic rendering and non-photorealistic visualization techniques
– Advanced knowledge of import/export workflows through Revit, Rhino, Blender, TwinMotion, V-Ray, and Enscape
– Knowledge with procedural techniques using software such as Grasshopper, Blender, or Houdini is an asset
– Ability to adapt and scale preferred workflow to the specific needs of different projects
– General understanding of cloud-computation, distributed rendering, and virtual machines
– Ability to demonstrate skills with image framing and composition, graphic hierarchy, colour theory, stylistic replication and adaptation, etc.
– Knowledge with creation, acquisition, and management of visualization assets (scale figures, vegetation, textures, etc.)
– Able to demonstrate initiative and a pro-active approach to daily tasks
– Ability to work with a high degree of self-direction and motivation

The Project Coordinator’s role is to complement the Project Manager’s role of ensuring that projects progress on schedule, on budget, whilst maintaining a high standard of quality that is within the scope of work. This role is the eyes and ears of the project, ensuring coordination between the client, contractors/consultants, and our internal team.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILIITES:
Managing Project Information
– Organizes and coordinates project activities
– Maintains drawing insurance logs
– Prepares meeting minutes and distributes after PM sign-off
– Tracks/logs incoming RFIs and Submittals
– Main resource for document control
– Enters progress items in Statslog and assists with monthly progress reports
– Sets and maintains internal deadlines for the technical team (internal and external)

Organizing and Coordinating Project Activities
– Project coordination including team correspondence, updating One Note with team correspondence, liaison with Project Managers, design staff, and outside consultants/contractors
– Experience with the RAIC Document Six and RAIC Document Nine is preferred
– Experience with the typical CCDC construction contracts (CCDC-2, CCDC-5A and 5B in particular)
– Experience in the Tender and Construction Administration phases of work
– Schedules consultation coordination meetings; prepares consultant correspondence and coordination
– Prepares weekly project reports
– Liaises with both internal parties to confirm status, receive and return completed assignments
– Coordinates submittals with Design Leads
– Performs a variety of contract management functions with emphasis on contract review, assembly of standard forms of agreement, and coordination with Corporate Legal resources
– Assists with Basis of Design report writing
– Organizes and maintains Construction Administration documentation
– Works with the team for site occupancy including recording deficiencies

Administrative Functions
– Data entry – such as entering preliminary data into contracts
– Assisting in preparation of presentations
– Cross-checking drawing sets for broken tags, incorrect references, and missing annotations
– Maintain project database, tech docs update, BIM Protocols, One Note, folder structure
– Ensure NDAs are signed and on file for new team members

REQUIREMENTS
– Bachelor’s degree
– Prior experience in a similar position in an Architectural studio, construction, or engineering firm is an asset
– Experience with P3 projects (public/private/partnerships) is an asset as it add complexity to a project
– Strong communication skills: written and oral
– Must be organized, able to multi-task, and be versatile as you will be working on multiple projects and working with other P&W offices
– Interpersonal skills: supportive, helpful, approachable, collaborative
– A desire to engage and invest in our firm and project goals of design excellence, building performance, sustainability at all scales, and rigour in execution and delivery.
– 2+ years in a similar role

Seeking an experienced Technologist for our Abbotsford / Chilliwack office who is proactive with passion for details, design experience, visual communication and Revit skills to assist and lead in the production of design and construction documents for a range of educational, institutional, health care and multifamily projects.

• Proficiency in REVIT, Adobe, applicable graphic presentation and visualization programs.
• Diploma or Post-Secondary degree in Architecture or Building Sciences with minimum 5+ years’ experience in the production of construction drawings for multiple medium to large scale projects.
