The BIM Manager will oversee all Revit projects within the offices while maintaining standards, providing technical support, educating/ mentoring team members and making sure each project is running efficiently. JOB DESCRIPTION
We are currently seeking a highly detail oriented individual with local experience who is
passionate about Architectural Design. This is a permanent full time position. Candidates must have
an undergraduate or graduate degree in architecture from an accredited university and be registered
with the AIBC or eligible to be registered within the province of British Columbia. The candidate
will be working directly with the Principal on all project aspects from start to finish.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
• 5 – 7+ years of experience working for a North America based Architecture firm with a focus
on multi- family or single family residential projects.
• Experience in developing highly detailed and well-coordinated construction drawings in
Autocad.
• Experience and strong intermediate skill level in detailing light wood frame construction.
• Organized and highly attentive to detail.
• Experience working with clients, coordinating consultants and communicating with local
municipalities.
• Ability to develop design options with minimal direction
• Expertise in Autocad, Sketchup and Adobe CS Suite is required (We do not use Revit at this
time)
• Experience working with the BC building code, local zoning bylaws and Step Codes
• Experience in Contract Administration would be beneficial
• Fluency in English and excellent oral and written communication skills are mandatory.
• Candidates must be registered with the AIBC, or eligible to be registered in the province of
British Columbia.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Serve as lead Transportation Architect in the Western Canada Region and be part of the office leadership team;

The Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC) is an independent, professional self-governing body established in 1920 by provincial statute (the Architects Act) with the mandate to regulate the profession of architecture in the interest of the public through a responsive regulatory framework.

The AIBC is seeking enthusiastic professionals to act as instructors in delivering courses offered through the Internship in Architecture Program (IAP).

The IAP was established by the Canadian Architectural Licensing Authorities (CALA) to maintain a program of architectural registration/licensing in Canada that is both meaningful and effective. AIBC offers courses to interns in the IAP program to help them meet entry-to-practice competencies required for registration in British Columbia. It also supports and enhances an intern’s knowledge and abilities during his/her work experience and helps to prepare him/her for architectural practice. These courses are also offered to alternative qualifications candidates enrolled under AIBC’s Broadly Experienced Applicant (BEA) program as part of their registration requirements.

During a course redesign process in 2018, the AIBC Registration Board approved the following courses as mandatory requirements for registration: Construction Administration; Architect & the Law: Part I; Building Code; and, Ethics, Act & Bylaws.

The Ethics, Act and Bylaws course covers the history of architectural associations and the Architect’s Act and Bylaws; examines cases of AIBC Bylaws contravention; discusses the use of a Certificate of Practice as well as examining the bylaws associated with competition conflict of interest and an architect’s professional engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Explain applicable sections of the Architects Act and the AIBC Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct for practicing architects.
  • Explain professional self-regulation in relation to architectural practice.
  • Describe the ethical and competency requirements in the Architect Act, Bylaws, Bulletins, Bylaws and council Rulings in the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
  • Explain how the AIBC regulatory documents are used.

Education and Experience

  • Registered Architect AIBC in good standing
  • 7+ years’ experience in practice with sound working knowledge of professional practice, regulation and ethics
  • A thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and responsibilities

  • Explain how to implement up to 11 elements of Construction Administration that may be required for any project.
